About
Repairing & Maintaining Equipment Since 1978
Our story starts in 1978, when Paul Todd stepped out and bought a small gas station in Covington, Ohio to start his truck repair business. Stories abound of these first years, including the fact that the overhead doors were so small that any truck coming into the shop had to have the stacks removed just to fit inside!
Through hard work and dedication to customers, The Service Company moved across town to new facility in 1987. According to Paul, he "couldn't imagine ever needing anything bigger than that building was". But as often happens, we soon outgrew that facility and added on in 1996 and again in 2006. In 2015 we moved our Covington location into a new facility.
In 2005, we started our Greenville, Ohio location to service our customers in the Darke County area. That facility has also grown over the years to feature a full service facility with 12 service bays and large parts display area where we help our customers out with all of their parts and truck tool needs.
2016 brought Dayton, Ohio location onto the scene. Through hard work and attention to customers, this location has grown into another busy location, allowing us to help take care of the Dayton area customers! Our Dayton branch also offers bumper to bumper truck and trailer repair services and parts sales.
We are thankful for our growth and hope to continue this trend into the future as we continually invest in people and technology. We have awesome customers AND awesome team members, and this combo is what makes it happen!

Our Truck Repair Services

Brake Repair
Your brake system involves many different components, and each one has to function correctly to keep you and others safe. Operators know without a doubt that your truck’s brakes are a key component that should never be overlooked. Worn brakes can make it difficult to slow, turn, stop and control your vehicle. At The Service Company, our technicians are here to make sure you can always rely on your vehicle’s brakes.
Coolant System Repair
One of the primary functions of coolant is to regulate heat within the cylinder head and engine block. The coolant system is designed to circulate a cooling medium which absorbs heat from the engine and dissipates it through a heat exchanger (i.e., a radiator or cooler).
DOT Inspection
DOT inspections are required by the US Department of Transportation and can include vehicle, load, driver and documentation assessments. They are performed on all commercial vehicles that weigh over 10,000 pounds.
Diagnostics & Electrical Repair
Modern diesel engines are more intricate than ever, and while they are remarkably dependable, they do require regular maintenance and service to ensure prime performance. When your truck develops an issue, you need it diagnosed, serviced and repaired quickly so you can get back on the road and back to work.

Your heavy-duty truck’s driveline is an essential part of your truck’s controls. It connects the transmission to the axles and transfers the power from the engine to the wheels. At The Service Company, we can handle all of your driveline maintenance and repairs requirements and get you back on the road, moving in the right direction.
EGR & DPF
The EGR and DPF system in your heavy-duty truck work together as part of your emissions system to limit the output of harmful exhaust.

Express Lube
To ensure your vehicle is running safely and efficiently, proper maintenance is crucial. This includes regular visits to our express oil and lube shop. When you stay on top of your truck’s lube and oil changes, your vehicle components have the necessary protection to keep running properly. This results in your truck lasting longer, driving smoother, having better fuel economy and it saves you money in extensive repairs down the road.
HVAC System Repair
Are you noticing that your truck’s struggling to manage heating, cooling or ventilation? Whatever the weather, we’ve got you covered. Our technicians recognize that there are many possible issues that can arise with a heavy-duty truck’s HVAC system, and these can often be challenging to diagnose. Using industry-advanced technology, our team of trained mechanics can quickly and accurately identify your HVAC system issues before making any repairs or recommendations. We aim to cure the issue and not just patch the symptom.
Oil & Fluid
The key to keeping your heavy-duty truck running at its peak performance is proper maintenance. One of the essentials for ensuring the longevity of your truck is regular oil changes and fluid checks. Proper lubrication of your truck’s moving components is crucial for your engine to run correctly and to promote its longevity. Trust our team for all your oil & fluid needs.
Suspension Repair
Your heavy-duty truck’s suspension system helps your wheels to remain in even contact with the road, smooth over potholes, rough roads, or off-road terrain so that you can brake, steer, and safely control your vehicle. The suspension system provides your vehicle with a cushion against the shock and impact of the road surface. A suspension system that functions correctly helps stabilize your truck, smooths the ride, and maintains the proper axle spacing and alignment. Our team can maintain your vehicle’s suspension.
Tire Repair
Flat tires can be a serious interruption to your work, but more importantly, a flat tire can be a serious threat to your safety on the road. Unfortunately, fixing a flat or servicing an old tire is just part of life on the road. The Service Company can help determine the best approach to either repairing or replacing your tires. We have the capability and inventory to help with most truck tire needs.
Transmission & Clutch Repair
Correctly diagnosing and repairing transmission issues requires experience and the right tools. Most transmissions in today's commercial trucks have electronic modules to help with efficiency and performance. If you are experiencing transmission drivability issues, you can often avoid rebuilding the entire transmission by correctly diagnosing what is causing the issue.
